Situated in Qianjiang District of Chongqing, the Zhuoshui ancient town is a millennium-old town that emerged in the late Tang Dynasty (618-907) and flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).
As a national 5A-level scenic area, the Zhuoshui ancient town has preserved its traditional architecture layout and a unique style blending stilted buildings of Tujia ethnic group and Hui-style architecture.
In recent years, the ancient town has also leveraged its natural and cultural resources to boost local cultural tourism. Statistics show that the scenic area saw over 5 million tourist trips from January to September this year, generating a total tourism revenue of 110 million yuan (about 15.5 million U.S. dollars).
