Located on narrow plains along the coastline of Fujian, Quanzhou was one of the world's largest ports along the historic Maritime Silk Road, as well as the road's important starting point. Quanzhou's trade volume with countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road surpassed 100 billion yuan (about 14.72 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021.
