BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- A video call between son and mom has gone viral on social media in China.
Mei Yiqi, a nucleic acid sample deliveryman from Wuhan, came to Shijiazhuang to fight the COVID-19. But he didn't tell his parents. When his mom asked to celebrate his birthday at home, Mei had no choice but to tell her the truth. "I'm not afraid of the virus, I'm afraid of mom crying", Mei said.
Mei Yiqi has participated in the anti-pandemic work in Wuhan and Chengdu in 2020. When the pandemic broke out in Shijiazhuang in 2021, he volunteered to come once again.
Mei Yiqi takes his job as a sample deliveryman, who fetches samples from several sampling collection sites in Shijiazhuang by the refrigerated vehicle. Sometimes, he needs to drive to expressway stations and to get samples from neighboring cities. The samples will be brought back to the nucleic acid testing labs in the shortest possible time.
Since Jan. 6, 2021, Shijiazhuang has launched three rounds of citywide nucleic acid testing for 10.25 million residents.
